Hello The Original Africans… The time of the year is here again in which we reflects on the phrase ‘A lot can happen in a calendar year’. And yeah, it does.
With no doubt, 2018 has been a wonderful year in the entertainment world. A year that has seen some of our favorite African musicians putting in extra work and being rightfully rewarded for it. From chart topping singles to winning coveted accolades, these superstars contributed immensely towards making African music global.
The year saw notable highlights with some African acts breaking glass ceilings and placing Africa on the global map. Nigerian afrobeats sensation Davido took home the highly coveted 2018 BET Best International Act and became the first international act to receive the award live on stage. Tanzanian bongo flava star Diamond Platnumz released his highly anticipated sophomore album, “A Boy From Tandale”. One of the incredible breakout star of the year, Burna Boy, also proved why he should be counted among the best and most talented on the continent.
If we are to start narrating, we will go on and on, but to cut a long story short, we appreciate and salute each and every musician and industry player who made this year a blast for us all and making Africa proud!
To celebrate a very successful 2018, Oh Afrika gives you a compilation list of some of the most popular African songs that made waves over the year and got people nodding their heads, snapping their fingers and dancing wherever they found themselves.
