Fresh off directing Disney movie “A Wrinkle in Time”, Hollywood filmmaker Ava Duvernay has landed yet another contract to direct DC Superhero film “New Gods” which is based on the DC Comics series of the same name originally released in 1971.
This significant milestone makes her the first black woman as well as the second woman to direct a DC Superhero film after Patty Jenkins, who directed blockbuster hit “Wonder Woman”.

Definitely looks like DuVernay will stop at nothing in breaking barriers. Just in case you did not know, her directorial role in “A Wrinkle in Time” starring Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon and a host of others made her the first woman of colour in Hollywood to direct a live-action film with a production budget of $100 million.
Some other notable projects DuVernay has worked on include Oscar-nominated documentary “13th” and historical drama film “Selma”.
